Why this matters

For the parent who never made it there.

They spent their lives giving to you — and perhaps never got the chance to stand before the Kaaba, or age and illness quietly took it from them. Umrah Badal is the door the Sunnah left open: a complete Umrah performed in their name in Makkah, its reward gifted to them. And for you, the reward of honouring your parent with a gift only a loving child would think to give.

“Perform Hajj on your father's behalf — for if your father had a debt, would you not settle it? What is owed to Allah is the most deserving of settlement.”

Who performs it?

One person in Makkah — one dedicated Umrah

Your order is taken on by a Muslim who is in Makkah and has already completed their own Umrah — the condition the majority of scholars require. One person, one complete Umrah, never pooled and never shared.

Who is it for?

For a parent — or anyone you long to honour

Most Umrah Badal orders are placed by sons and daughters, for a mother or father who has passed away or can no longer travel. Their name is spoken at the intention, and the dedication carries through the films and the certificate — a gift of reward, made in their name.

What happens on the day?

From the Miqat to the trimming of hair

At the Miqat — Ihram is entered and the intention is made in their name, filmed so you hear it.
In the Haram — Tawaf around the Kaaba, and Sa'i between Safa and Marwah.
Completion — the trimming of hair, and a du'a made in their name.

The reward

The reward reaches them — and you lose nothing

Scholars hold that the reward of worship, gifted by sincere intention, reaches the one it is made for — the Talbiyah, every circuit of Tawaf, every step of Sa'i, written for them. And the one who arranges it loses nothing of their own; both may be rewarded, by Allah's generosity. The films and verifiable certificate reach you within 5–7 days.

Honest answers

Questions people ask us

What is Umrah Badal?

Umrah Badal is an Umrah performed on behalf of someone who cannot perform it themselves — the deceased, or the permanently unable. The performer makes the intention in their name at the Miqat, completes every rite of Umrah, and the reward is gifted to them by that sincere intention.

Can I arrange it for my mother or father?

Yes — and most people do. The very hadith this service rests on is about a parent: a woman asked the Prophet ﷺ about performing pilgrimage on behalf of her elderly father, and he permitted it. For a parent who has passed away, or who can no longer make the journey, an Umrah in their name is one of the most beautiful gifts a child can still give — and scholars note the one who arranges it is honouring their parent, which carries its own reward.

Who can it be performed for?

Two situations: someone who has passed away, and someone permanently unable to travel — through old age, chronic illness or disability. It is not for someone who is able to perform Umrah but simply hasn't yet, and a temporary condition someone will recover from does not qualify.

Is Umrah Badal permissible?

The majority of scholars — across the Hanafi, Shafi'i and Hanbali schools — permit it, with conditions. The basis is the authentic hadith of the woman of Khath'am, who asked the Prophet ﷺ about performing pilgrimage on behalf of her elderly father; he permitted it, saying that what is owed to Allah is the most deserving of settlement (al-Bukhari and Muslim). The Maliki school is more cautious. The conditions on this page follow the reviewed ruling.

Who performs the Umrah?

A Muslim who is physically in Makkah and — in line with the majority scholarly position — has already completed their own Umrah first. Each order is one person performing one complete, dedicated Umrah. We never pool orders or split one Umrah between beneficiaries.

What proof will I receive?

Films of the Umrah — including the intention with their name spoken aloud — with a du'a made in their name, and a signed certificate carrying a unique reference you can check on our verification page. Delivered within 5–7 days of your order.

Does the performer lose their own reward?

No. When the reward of an act of worship is gifted to another through sincere intention, the one who performs it loses nothing — scholars hold that both may be rewarded, by Allah's generosity.

Can I arrange it for two people at once?

One Umrah is dedicated to one person — that is a condition we never bend. To honour two loved ones, place two orders; each receives its own complete Umrah, films and certificate.
